Here is a basic guideline.  Dress comfortably.  Dress on the loose side.  Plaid works great.

Close toed shoes.  No exceptions.  Shoes do not need to be boots, however be comfortable and think ahead.  Ladies, while you look fabulous in those close toed high heels, we have landscaping chips that you're sure to sink right into and hurt yourself.  Flats, sneakers, running shoes, and yes, boots, work great.

Men - the longer the beard the better.  Think Paul Bunyan.

And on a personal note, I find it hard to throw with a hat on.  Might just be me.  Anything with a brim gets in the way.
